

She works in all mediums but primarily enjoys working in oil. She was also an instructor at Hope’s community Arts Program at the Art Machine. She was an active member of the local artist guild and displayed her work in the Hope Art Gallery where she also held many solo shows. Linda also enjoyed being active in the community of Hope BC. When she wasn’t working in film, she enjoyed painting “en plein air”. For 17 years, she owned a small mountainside farm outside of Hope BC.

During her time in this group, she participated in group shows in BC’s Lower mainland and attended many workshops from accomplished Canadian and American artists. Linda was a founding member of The Stave Falls Artist Group. During that time she also studied oil painting under the mentorship of renowned impressionist Ron Hedrick. Linda has retired from 25 years as a Scenic Artist and Signwriter in Vancouver’s Film Industry. She is the granddaughter of beloved bagpiper Alex Currie. Originally from Squamish, B.C, she has recently moved to Cape Breton Island after purchasing her grandfather’s property. Linda Bishop has been painting commercially for over 30 years. In July 2015, Irina Swain participated in the Exhibition of student artworks of Korean famous artist Joo Young-Geun at National Assembly Hall, Seoul, South Korea. In October 2014, Irina Swain participated as featured artist with her mini solo exhibition at TLC bistro & café, in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. To me, the process of creating each design or painting each artwork is secret meditation that brings peace and harmony to my soul and, I hope to show that harmony to everyone that uses my designs or enjoys my artworks. I try to show the world as it is, but also try to make our world a little better by bringing out its inner beauty through my work. In my designs and artworks, I like to show what I see in front of me, but I also like to try imagining and show how it may look better. Though growing up in one of the largest cities in Russia and living in so many big cities around the world, I learned to appreciate and find beauty in all kinds of architectural forms and building of our concrete jungles. I get my inspiration from the beauty of nature that surrounds us. “ After studying so many fascinating and beautiful techniques around the world, I love to implement them in my designs and artworks and love to experiment with different styles and techniques, too. Her latest passion is creating mixed media art that can combine many different mediums and technics. Some of her earlier work included the use of drawings and sketches done in graphic pencil and ink. In her work, Irina Swain is using watercolors, acrylic, and oil paints and enjoys combining different techniques to be used in painting landscapes, portraits, still life of realistic nature, as well as abstract impressions of life. Later she continued her education in Visual Art and Painting by studying under John David Anderson (Barrie, Ontario, Canada) and Joo Young-Geun (Seoul, South Korea). Irina received her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from A.D.Kryachkov Novosibirsk State University of Architecture, Design, and Arts, Novosibirsk, Russia. Currently living and working as freelance artist and mother for two beautiful little kids in Nova Scotia, Canada.
